About Belize

We went to win no less beautiful place called Belize after we visited the ruins of Tulum. Belize is a small country in Central America, on the Caribbean coast, which is very popular with tourists around the world. Capital is the small town of Belmopan. History of Belize is very interesting and it evokes the same feeling as if you go over the ruins of Tulum. It was going to be a nice tour. Culture of Belize, of course, goes back to the origins of civilization of the Maya, whose descendants are still living in the country. Most major centers of the Maya, surviving by now are Shunantuniche (on the border with Guatemala), Altun Ha (the image of these ruins is present on the labels of the local beer “Belikin”), Lubaantum, El Pilar Caracol in the deep jungle. Civilization of Maya has gone downhill even in 900 AD, but the rural settlements of the Indians lasted until the 17th century when the Spaniards sailed to Belize. Belize has never been a priority for the Spaniards mining, because Mexico and Honduras were side by side, which was rich gold and silver. The Spaniards used the country for the extraction of logwood (blue sandalwood) - tree species, which is prized in Europe as a raw material for dyes. Deforestation leaded over a slave. The Spaniards brought black slaves from Africa to the Caribbean Sea. Black slaves constituted 75% of the total population of Belize by the 1790-th year. But Belize became England colony soon came. Slaves continued to cut down sandalwood trees until the mid-19th century, and then they reorganized to mahogany. The game of political parties started in 1947, and own government had in Belize by 1962. That’s because this tiny country became independent and became quickly a favorite place for tourists. Those people, who take such a tour, say that residents of this country are very friendly, sociable and spontaneous. I was very pleased with our Belize adventure tours, because we visited not only this amazing little country, but also the ruins of Tulum, which left good memories in my mind.
